Born in Richmond, Virginia (1925), Mr. Schoenbaum has practiced
law in San Antonio since 1958, specializing in federal tax matters
and estate planning. He is a founding shareholder of SC&S. He is
Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law and in Tax Law
by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Schoenbaum earned
a B.A. from the University of Richmond (1947), an LL.B. from the
University of Virginia (1949) and an LL.M. (in Taxation) from New
York University School of Law (1950). From 1953 to 1958 he served
as a trial attorney in the Atlanta Regional Office of the IRS Chief
Counsel and as a special attorney in the Legislation and Regulations

in estate, gift and income taxation at St. Mary's University School
of Law for over fifteen years, and has been a frequent lecturer
on taxation and estate planning. He is a member of the American
Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas (and past chairman of

Born in Brownsville, Texas (1942), Bill is a founding shareholder
of SC&S. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law
by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Bill earned a B.A. from
the University of Virginia (1962), an LL.B. from the University
of Texas School of Law (1966) and an LL.M. (in Taxation) from George
Washington University School of Law (1971). Bill served as a Captain
in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1970 with one year of service in Vietnam.
His decorations include the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze
Star. He was an adjunct professor of estate and gift taxation at
St. Mary's University School of Law for over twenty years, and is
the author of numerous articles and a frequent lecturer on taxation,
estate planning and trust and estate administration issues at programs
such as the Wills & Probate Institute at the Center for American
and International Law, the Annual American Institute on Federal
