A native of Eveleth, Minnesota, R. James “Jim” Curphy (1940) is a founding shareholder of SC&S. After attending Colorado College on a full hockey scholarship and serving in the United State Army, Jim received his LL.B from the University of Texas School of Law. He then went on to work as a trial attorney for the Internal Revenue Service. Jim has served clients across South Texas in connection with their personal estate, tax and business planning needs for generations. He is named in the 2003-2004 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in Tax and has been designated by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer in Tax, Estate Planning and Trusts. He is A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell.
