Stanley Schoenbaum has practiced tax law in San Antonio since 1958, after five years with the Office of the Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service, including service with the Legislation and Regulations Division at the National Office. He was the senior founder of Schoenbaum, Curphy & Scanlan, P.C. in
1974 along with Jim Curphy and William Scanlan. Mr Schoenbaum was chairman of the Tax Section of the State Bar of Texas in 1968.
Prior to founding Schoenbaum, Curphy & Scanlan, R. James Curphy worked as a trial attorney for the Internal Revenue Service. He has been AV Rated for thirty years and has also been designated by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer in Tax, Estate Planning and Trusts.
William Scanlan, Jr. is a Fellow and a Former Regent of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel and was an Adjunct Professor of Estate and Gift Taxation at St. Mary’s University School of Law for over twenty years.
Banks M. Smith represents the San Antonio Conservation Society, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the San Antonio River Foundation, and the Voelcker Fund. He is consistently named in the Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate.
Darin N. Digby is the author of numerous articles and a frequent lecturer on taxation, estate planning and trust and estate administration issues at continuing legal and professional education programs. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is consistently named in the Best Lawyers in America in both the Tax and Trusts and Estates areas. -
Patricia F. Sitchler served as an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University School of Law since 1998, and she is a frequent author and lecturer on elder law, estate planning, trust and estate administration issues, and legal ethics issues.
Emily Harrison Liljenwall has been designated numerous times by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star in Estate Planning and Trusts. She is A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Ashley Ressmann Gray is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In 2009 and 2010, Ashley was designated by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star in Estate Planning and Probate.
Harry is an associate with SC&S practicing taxation, estate planning, probate and charitable planning law. He received a B.S. in public relations from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from the University of Houston, where he was an editor of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal. -
Michael Hatfield is currently Of Counsel to SC&S and the
Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Development and a Professor of
Law at Texas Tech University School of Law. In 2010, Michael Hatfield
was awarded the Texas Tech University President's Excellence in Teaching
Award.
